Dr. Paul Rummy is a paleontologist, exhibition curator, explorer, and internationally recognized science communicator whose work bridges scientific research, museum innovation, and global collaboration.
Over the past decade, he has curated and co-developed numerous paleontological exhibitions across China, transforming cutting-edge scientific discoveries into immersive museum experiences that have inspired hundreds of thousands of visitors.
Dr. Paul Rummy is a paleontologist, exhibition curator, explorer, and internationally recognized science communicator whose work bridges scientific research, museum innovation, and global collaboration. Over the past decade, he has curated and co-developed numerous paleontological exhibitions across China, transforming cutting-edge scientific discoveries into immersive museum experiences that have inspired hundreds of thousands of visitors. His work is driven by a vision of making Earth’s deep past accessible through scientific accuracy, compelling storytelling, and international collaboration.
He received his Ph.D. in Paleontology and Stratigraphy from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) under the supervision of renowned paleontologist Academician Xu Xing. His research focuses on Mesozoic crocodyliform evolution, ichnology, vertebrate paleobiology, and the reconstruction of ancient ecosystems, integrating classical paleontology with emerging technologies and interdisciplinary approaches.
An active field explorer, Dr. Rummy has led and participated in paleontological expeditions across China, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, and Türkiye, conducting research in Xinjiang, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Sichuan, Jiangxi, Yunnan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Türkiye, and Malaysia. His fieldwork encompasses dinosaur-bearing formations, fossil vertebrate assemblages, trace fossils, and ancient ecosystems, contributing to the discovery, documentation, and interpretation of fossil sites spanning more than 200 million years of Earth’s evolutionary history.
His scientific research has been published in internationally renowned journals under the Nature, Science, and Cell Press publishing groups. He serves on the editorial board of the SCI journal Integrative Zoology and is a Founding Editorial Team Member of Earth Science Horizons, where he has contributed to the journal’s establishment, international outreach, and scientific communication.
Beyond academic research, Dr. Rummy is widely recognized for his contributions to science communication, international collaboration, and cultural exchange. Through museum exhibitions, international scientific partnerships, educational outreach, and cultural diplomacy, he has actively promoted Chinese paleontology to global audiences. In recognition of these achievements, he was awarded the Beijing Chaoyang Phoenix Friendship Ambassador Award, honoring his outstanding contributions to international friendship and cross-cultural cooperation.
A passionate advocate for science communication, Dr. Rummy is the founder of the Silk Road Ancient Life Exploration Program, an international initiative selected as part of the UNESCO International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024–2033). The program promotes scientific exploration, education, and international collaboration by connecting researchers, museums, and communities through the shared story of Earth’s ancient life.
As Co-Founder and Scientific Director of Deep Time Stories, Dr. Rummy leads the company’s scientific vision, working closely with paleontologists, museums, universities, and research institutions worldwide. He oversees scientific consultation, reconstruction methodology, exhibition curation, international partnerships, and research collaborations, ensuring that every model, exhibition, and educational program is grounded in the latest scientific discoveries while remaining engaging, accessible, and inspiring for audiences of all ages.
